Prekajsko Lake - Lake Župica
Prekajsko jezero, also known as Lake Župica, is one of those places that has not yet been flooded by mass tourism, and this is precisely where its greatest charm lies. Located ten kilometers from Drvar, surrounded by dense forests, hills and untouched nature of western Bosnia, this lake offers a true sense of peace and escape from everyday life. It was created by the construction of a dam on the river Unac in the second half of the 20th century, originally for the needs of industry in Drvar, and today it is a favorite location for vacations in nature, fishing and weekend trips. The surface of the lake is about 2 km². It is especially loved by anglers because the lake is stocked and known for species such as carp and chub, while other river species can occasionally be caught. Calm water, silence and natural surroundings make it an ideal place for all-day fishing, camping along the coast or simply relaxing away from the crowds.
In the summer, Lake Prekajsko is a great destination for swimming, barbecuing by the water, kayaking or exploring the surrounding forest paths. Due to the weak urbanization of the area, nature has remained almost untouched — there are no big crowds, noise or overcrowded beaches, but an authentic ambience of wilderness and clean air. That is precisely why many consider it a hidden gem of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mornings on the lake often begin with fog that gently lifts above the water, while evenings bring incredible sunsets reflected on the calm surface of the lake. For lovers of photography, nature and outdoor adventures, this is a place full of shots and peace that are rarely found today. It is possible to camp near the lake.
Drvar, the river Unac and numerous mountain locations suitable for hiking, cycling and exploring nature are nearby, so Lake Prekajsko is an excellent base for an active holiday and a multi-day stay.
If you are interested in sport fishing, the lake is home to carp, baboon, lake trout, chub, perch and catfish. The price of a daily permit is 20 KM (€10), annual 100 KM (€50) all information by phone: +387 65 857 925, for foreign tourists whapp, viber: +387 64 447 9505
