The Roman Bridge – a stone witness to Sarajevo's past

The Roman Bridge is one of the oldest and most special bridges in the vicinity of Sarajevo. Located not far from Ilidž and the famous Velika Aleja, this stone bridge has connected the banks of the Bosna River for centuries and preserves the spirit of past times.

Although it bears the name "Roman Bridge", the bridge got its current appearance mainly during the Ottoman period in the 16th century, while stone remains from the Roman era were used for its construction. This is precisely why the bridge represents a combination of different eras and cultures that have shaped Sarajevo throughout history.

The bridge is characterized by elegant stone arches, peaceful nature and an authentic atmosphere that makes it a favorite place for walking, taking photos and escaping from the city crowd. Surrounded by greenery and the gentle flow of the Bosna River, the Roman Bridge especially attracts visitors during spring and autumn when nature gives this place a special charm.
